MAEOE is thrilled to offer the following mini-grants and stipend opportunities, which are funded through the Maryland State Department of Education under the Maryland Green Schools Act of 2019. Mini-grant and stipend application deadlines vary and are reviewed on a rolling basis until all funds have been allocated, so apply now! Costs associated with these grants must be paid by the school/organization first and will be reimbursed after a final report is submitted.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO APPLY FOR A MINI-GRANT and/or STIPEND

- Teacher Stipend for Leading a Green Team PDF: Funds to support teachers or other school staff who lead a Green Team at their school. Open to teachers or other school staff at any Maryland school leading a youth Green Team. One stipend per school. $250 Stipend.
- Student Action Grant PDF: Funds to support student action projects that exemplify students’ voices and have an environmental focus. Open to any public or private Maryland School. One grant per school. Up to $2,000.
- Transportation Grant PDF: Funds to support transportation to and from environmentally-focused field experiences or other relevant events. Open to any public or private Maryland School or non-profit organization working with a school. One grant per school/organization. Up to $1,000.
- Youth Summit Transportation Grant PDF (opening 3/2/2026): Funds for transportation to the 2026 Youth Summit at Sandy Point State Park on Thursday, May 28. Open to any public or private Maryland school or non-profit organization working with a school. One grant per school/organization. Up to $800.
- Teacher Professional Development Grant PDF: Funds to support organizations offering PD opportunities for educators in Maryland that aim to build teacher capacity and comfort in leading environmentally focused lessons, projects, and field experiences. Open to any Maryland organization developing and facilitating environmental education PD for formal and non-formal educators. One grant per organization. Up to $2,500.
